Raghu Dixit makes Bollywood debut

Desi Rockstar Raghu Dixit has made his Bollywood debut with a thumping party track 'Dheaon Dheaon' for Facebook love story 'Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge'. Dheaon Dheaon is a tribute to the South Indian street music form of Dappan Koothu. Giving it a spin is the fusion with Hip-Hop and Rap. The track has some really mad lyrics penned by Anvita Dutt – so much so that a Karaoke singalong version has been released to punch that harder. Scored by Raghu Dixit, one of the country’s most talented indie musicians, Dheaon Dheaon has been sung by Vishal Dadlani and Aditi Singh Sharma featuring rap by Machas with Attitude. This is the second track from the film’s album which is scheduled to release shortly and is apparently already a rage across several campuses due to an innovating sampling exercise done at key colleges. The music video features the entire cast in an outrageous party rocking away the night. Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge marks the debut of 4 very talented actors, Saqib Saleem, Saba Azad, Tara D’Souza and Nishant Dahiya besides director Nupur Asthana who was previously known for hugely popular cult TV shows like Hip Hip Hurray and Mahi Way and of course, Raghu Dixit.

Career over love

Sonakshi chooses Shahid starrer over YRF's next project with her beau Ranveer Singh Body Sonakshi Sinha and Shahid Kapoor will come together for Sajid Nadiadwala’s next project. The yet untitled film will be directed by Sabbir Khan and is a romantic action flick. Interestingly, Sonakshi was supposed to sign a Yash Raj Films’ venture with her new close friend Ranveer Singh. But the actress, deciding to keep her personal and professional separate, gave the YRF film a pass and chose the Shahid starrer instead. A source informed Mumbai Mirror, “Sonakshi was offered a film opposite Ranveer Singh by YRF. It was supposed to be directed by Habib Faisal. However, Sonakshi has now decided to take on Sajid Nadiadwala’s project instead. She has already given all her dates in January to Sajid.” Recent reports suggested that Sonakshi and Ranveer were more than just friends. The actors grew closer ever since their on-stage performance at a film awards ceremony in Toronto. “However, when it came down to her career, Sonakshi decided to opt for Shahid over Ranveer. She has given the same dates to Sajid that were required by YRF for the Ranveer starrer,” added the source. Talking about the Sajid’s venture, the source added, “Sajid Nadiadwala has written the story and the screenplay of the film himself. Kambakkht Ishq director Sabbir Khan will direct it. Earlier too, Sabbir was to direct Heer Ranjha starring Shahid.” Despite repeated messages, Shahid Kapoor, Sajid Nadiadwala and Sonakshi Sinha remained unavailable for comments.

I had no living person to challenge

By far the toughest scene I've ever done was for Rituparno Ghosh's film Shob Charitra Kalponik. I had to break down, when I realised only after my husband Prosenjeet's death that he betrayed me. Betrayal by the one you love is really tough. And this girl I was playing had no living person to challenge, counter-question and hurl recriminations at. Her betrayer was dead! I basically had to get bitter about an idea rather than at a human being. So I did whatever I could. I recalled how deep a betrayal my character had suffered. My character realised that her husband had used every bit of her character, feelings and even incidents from her life in his writing. She realised his Bangla poetry was just a replication of what she used to write in English. I thought of all of that in the breakdown scene .I couldn't stop crying, even after the scene was over. I had to fall back on memories to get the emotion right. I was playing the bread-winner of the family, while my husband was a poet and a dreamer. He never took his responsibilities as a husband seriously. He even had an affair. And my character wanted to leave him. But post his death, my character begins to listen to his poetry and she falls in love with her dead husband. Then when she feels betrayed, I had to return to a state of disappointment I felt during the marriage. The breakdown that followed was the toughest scene of my life. I couldn't have done it without my director Rituparno Ghosh. He helped me reach into the recesses of my subconscious where I had never been before.
